Dolphins in human care

Zoo Duisburg, Germany

 

In the past 20 years, I visited quite a few European dolphinariums, zoos and aquaria housing cetaceans (dolphins and whales).

The visits usually coincided with visiting conferences of the EAAM (European Association of Aquatic Mammals) and IMATA (International Marine Animal Trainers Association).
Their websites will give you more information on housing, husbandry of the animals and education of the public in these facilities.

 
My card collection is of old cards (1960's-1990's), therefore most scenes depicted on these postcards do not show the way shows and trainings are done nowadays!

Some of these facilities might not even exist anymore.
